Sixteen
years ........
At a square of four years, the trust is happy
that it has touched the lives of four hundred and two persons
affected by cancer directly. Indirectly the numbers would be
in millions. The numbers sponsored is small when compared to
the number of cases seen in the country but these numbers have
received uncompromised care and that is why many of them have
reached the shores of cure.
The sixteenth year of the trust has had the
highest number of patients sponsored. 70 new cases have been
taken up for support and quite a lot of them have been from
Mumbai. Like it has been always, blood and breast cancers have
been a priority. In Chennai & Coimbatore the patients have
been completely supported while in Mumbai a sizeable number
have received partial support. The Help cell at Tata memorial
has aided nearly 30 patients with varied cancers
In the last year, Mumbai chapter , has come
of age! The numbers of activities – camps, awareness session,
patient care & fund raising – all have increased substantially.
It is where the highest number of screening camps are done!
Chennai hasn’t really picked up till date. The base is
stationed here, its own hospital is here, yet the level of activity
is comparatively low. The anniversary of the Hospital increased
activity and interaction among volunteers and the jumble sale
got the volunteers here to gel well. This probably will help
the Chennai chapter to pick up pace. An activity that has really
gained momentum is Endredrum MS , the monthly event that pays
obeisance to M.S.Subbulakshmi.
It
is people‘s generosity and volunteer hardwork that has
taken the trust to where it stands today. It needs to move further
and has to ensure that cancer is never. For this it needs more
of you with greater commitment, with more time to spare and
increased enthusiasm. Like always
